NAMI Corp. (the Group) marked a momentous development for river sand on 6 September 2019 when its wholly-owned subsidiary SBS Mining Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd (SBS) received the sole and exclusive rights to mine river sand from a 1.904 hectares or 4.7 acres plot of land in Kampung Tiram, a district of Kuala Kuantan, Kuantan, State of Pahang, Malaysia
Sand Mining. Located at the district of Pekan, alongside of Pahang river, that is where we started our sand mining operation in year 2007. We started operate the second sand mine in Panching - Sungai Lembing in 2015. Over the years, the customers we served in the region are prominent developers, contractors, and ready mixed plants.
On 10 January 2019, NAMI Corp., via its wholly-owned subsidiary SBS Mining Corporation Sdn Bhd (SBS), in a joint venture with JHW Holdings Sdn Bhd, a private limited company incorporated in Malaysia (JHW and together with SBS and NAMI Corp., the Group) received a sea sand mining licence from the Ministry of Water, Land and Natural Resources

The present study covers three rivers i.e Sungai Muda, Sungai Langat and Sungai Kurau that have different level of sand mining activities. Sungai Muda has a long history of sand mining activity along the upper reach.
In Malaysia, main source the of sand is from in-stream mining. In-stream sand mining is common practice becaa use the mining locations are usually near the markets or along the transportation route, hence reducing transportation costs. In-stream sand mining can damage private and public properties as well as aquatic habitats.
2 STUDY AREA . The study was carried out to cover three main rivers in Malaysia i.e. Muda River, Langat River and Kurau River, which had different levels of sand mining activities.
Langat River recently has been a major source of sand for construction with the development of Putrajaya. Fewer activities of sand mining are ongoing in Kurau River at the upstream of Bukit Merah reservoir. 2.1 Muda River Muda River originates in the mountainous areas of the State of Kedah as shown in Figure 1.
